I am in my new space. Mostly settled (which was made much easier by the fact that I don’t own any furniture).
I feel like a city dweller again. I think for the last 4 years I have been in denile. I said I lived in the city. My address was in the city, but I had to drive most places. That is not city living.
I have food (over 20 places), coffee (over 5 places), bank, and mail all with in walking distance.
I am just off a college campus, and it has been great just walking from here to there through campus. The energy is great.
The one thing I don’t have in the new place is internet.
Well most of the time I don’t have it. From time to time a stray wireless network pops up. I still don’t know how I feel about sharing someone else’s network with out their permission. I have heard the New York Times resident ethicist talk about the issue. He is one the side of say it is okey. As someone who has a pension to borrow, I didn’t find his argument persuasive.
For the most part I am off line. I only see the wed once or twice a day. Requires me to plan a little more.
I now have a list of all the things I need to do on-line when I have access.
I also can’t waste great deals of time on-line.
I think this is going to be a good thing.
But I am a little scared I won’t survive.
