Autism in mysterious. We don’t know full what it is. We certainly don’t know why it happens.
According to the Autism Society of America 1 in 150 children born this year will be diagnosed (that is one every 20 second).
April is Autism Awareness Month. If you are paying attention to the news you might have seen a story or two.
I believe the untold story of Autism is that of parents of children diagnosed with Autism. 18 months ago I was completely unaware of what there lives are like. They fight a heroic battle everyday.
If you know one of these parents, please reach out to them. Give them a hand, a hug, or a prayer. You also might want to send them to this new resource.
Autism Parent Support Network
As far as I know it is the only resource on the web geared solely to helping these parents take care of themselves. [For obvious reasons I am partial to the resource.]

If you are not reading Seth Godin’s blog, you missing great wisdom:
Getting someone’s attention
This will blow your mind in regards to the power (and limits) of focus.

Greatfulness
Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy — because we will always want to have something else or something more.

One Corner
There’s only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.

The Best You Can Do
The best you can do for anyone is to thrive fully and be willing to explain to anyone who asks how it is that you are thriving, and what it is that you’ve discovered—and then, just relax and trust that all truly is well.

Working on Me
Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job.
Jim Rohn
The greatest gift you can give to somebody is your own personal development. I used to say, “If you will take care of me, I will take care of you.” Now I say, “I will take care of me for you if you will take care of you for me”.

Announcement #2: New Book
In the fall I worked on two book projects. One has turned into a 10 CD series as well which I am still working on. The other was finished in October.
The book is called “Surefire Stress Busters For Youth Ministers.” Despite what the title reads, the book is not for Youth Ministers. It is for everyone. Stress management is the same regardless of what causes the stress.
Ten minutes a day can change your health and disposition. I believe in this book so much I am basically giving it away to my blog readers. I have a stack of 30 books that I am looking at right now that I am going to sell for $1 each (90% off the cover price). And regardless the number of books you buy, the shipping is the same (hint: buy one for a friend who really needs it.)
Get info on the book!

They wait for the teacher (hopefully a great one) to give them something of value.
Many employees do the same thing at work. They wait for a boss (hopefully a great one) to give them responsibility or authority or experiences that add up to a career.
A few people, not many, but a few, take. They take the best education they can get, pushing teachers for more, finding things to do, exploring non-defined niches. They take more courses than the minimum, they invent new projects and they show up with questions.
A few people, not many, take opportunities at work. Marketers have the easiest time of this (sort of hard to commandeer the chain saw) but don’t do it nearly as often as they should.
