Today I worked with a group of kids. We asked them to draw pictures of their family. An 11-year-old girl asked if it was OK if she drew something that symbolized each member of her family.
Of course.
I breaks my heart that I messed this photo up. In my rush to take photos of all the kids and their drawings I cut off the part of her drawing that was her father.

Her description of each part:
Father (cut off): Brick Wall – “He is strong and sturdy.”
Mother: Street Light – “Love and our guiding light.”
Baby Brother: Toys – “He brings our family joy.”
Little Sister: Growing Tree – “Still has so much growing to do.”
Me: Diary – “I have lots of thoughts and feelings inside of me.”
Yeah, that all came from an 11-year-old.
Here are a few other fun photos from the kids today.

What a holy experience, to share this pain, this bountiful expression of their world and also this healing.
Gene, great of you to visit my country! If only I could personally meet you. . . .
